WINE RETREAT
Job: New construction
This rustic homestead, located in a sprawling 80-acre estate in Gainesville, Florida, features a marriage of lodge-style features with transitional flair. Designed for a family of six, the home brings the outdoors in, while giving a nod to their urban lifestyle from their previous home in the city.
CHALLENGES
- Both husband and wife loved different styles, as is often the case with couples, so we needed to find a compromise.
- We needed to create intimacy and warmth in a large home.
- Since it was a large estate, it needed to be easy to maintain.
SOLUTIONS
- We agreed on a rustic lodge feel for most of the home, which the husband wanted, and a lighter and brighter master bedroom to suit the wife's love for a feminine and more sophisticated style. For a cohesive look, we incorporated rustic elements like the chandelier and stone fireplace into the master bedroom.
- Wood and stone elements lend natural warmth and texture, while dark tones create a cozy intimacy.
- We selected materials that were durable and required less maintenance for sustainability.
