MIDCENTURY MODERN
Job: REMODEL
The purchase of this house was on a whim when the family was walking their dog in the neighborhood and loved the property and thought it would be a fun project. We completely remodeled the entire house to upgrade to the conveniences of today while giving an ode to the original style and lines of the home. With a large family and frequent church gatherings, the design needed to balance vast, open spaces with a warm and inviting atmosphere. To reflect their deep appreciation for nature and their tree farm, we incorporated elements that seamlessly brought the outdoors in.
CHALLENGES
- The dated layout needed to be transformed into a home for a large family, suitable for entertaining guests.
- The different levels required flooring transitions.
- The family wanted to bring the outdoors in, so that the home would feel modern yet relaxed.
SOLUTIONS
- Replaced much of the paneling with refined walnut cabinetry, enhancing both style and storage functionality.
- Drew inspiration for the color palette from natural outdoor elements, incorporating greens, sandy tones, and rich browns.
- Preserved the large windows to bring in natural light and connect with the outdoors, while adding thoughtfully placed lighting to brighten the interiors.
