CHALLENGES
- The family wanted a practical approach to aging in place with style.
- They wanted to downsize but also keep the home open for large family gatherings.
- The home needed to have ease of maintenance and functionality for an aging couple.
SOLUTIONS
1. We designed the home’s layout to include additional spaces for hosting large family gatherings, with accommodations for guests located in a separate wing. This ensured that the main living areas used daily remained comfortable and easy to maintain.
2. We designed a double master bedroom wing to accommodate home nurses or caretakers, providing a shared space within the same wing while maintaining privacy and separation.
3. To ensure all doors and hallways were ADA compliant while maintaining an appealing aesthetic, we carefully selected tiles, trim molding, and other design elements that naturally drew attention to the interior’s beauty rather than the width of the doorways and spaces.
